Dear Kate,
On behalf of the mayor’s office, we are looking to install a cabinet on Artists’ Row where
residents can take and leave art supplies, similar to the tiny library we installed in front of City Hall and
bought from the same vendor. The purpose will be to provide free supplies for any form of creative
project and to allow residents to share unused supplies with the community. This will help sustainable
art practices as well as providing creative supplies to those who otherwise may be unable to purchase
them.
We have worked with the Department of Public Services to identify the best possible location for
the installation. Artists’ Row is perfect, since it will be visible to those who regularly make art but also to
those stopping by to appreciate art or simply walking downtown who may then be inspired to engage in
projects of their own. We request this be installed at the location pictured below, drilled into the cement
on the side of the street.
4" x 4" mounting post
12.75" wide x 5" tall-
post topper
Dimensions: Wood
We propose installing the cabinet here on Artists’ Row and ask the SRA for approval in this
matter. If installed, it will become the responsibility of the mayor’s office to maintain and upkeep the

installation. Our senior arts and culture planner will also be assisting with monitoring, and the site is
viewed by 24/7 cameras.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Upon approval by the SRA, our next step is to
present the artists mockup for this art supply exchange to the Public Art Commission.
Sincerely,
