Decision:To recommend approval of the project as conditioned herein.
Referenced Plans and Documents:
- Proposal for façade paint prepared by the applicant and submitted on August 11, 2022.
Conditions of Approval:
- Consistency with Approved Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the project may not be completed
as presented and conditioned herein, he/she/they shall return to the DRB to review proposed modifications prior to
making any changes in the field.
- Painting
The entire façade should be white, including the recessed doorways on Washington Street and Barton Square.
Paint the sign bands above the corner window and the Washington Street window blue. This is where the
business signage will be installed.
Paint the window muntins black.
Paint the rectangles located below the windows blue.
Greek Key Pattern Accent
Add the Greek key pattern on the sign bands above the Barton Square picture window and above the
Washington Street entrance.
Add the Greek key pattern above the Barton Square entrance.
Submission of Revised Renderings: The applicant shall submit revised renderings illustrating the DRB
recommendations prior to review by the Salem Redevelopment Authority.
Findings:
- The Board found that, with the recommended conditions implemented, the façade will have a simplified
appearance with pops of color that is more consistent with the streetscape. SRA-22-14
The painting of the window muntins black will unify the upper portion of the three commercial storefronts on this
block.

- Validity of Approval: This approval is valid for two years from the date of the meeting. The approval shall no longer be valid if a substantial use
and/or construction has not commenced except for good cause within this two-year period.
- Consistency with Approved Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the project may not be completed as presented and conditioned
herein, he/she/they shall return to the SRA to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes in the field.
