Michael Sullivan, Sarah Tarbet Members Absent:Catherine Miller Decision:To recommend approval of the project as presented and conditioned herein. Referenced Plans and Documents: - Plan set titled, 'Salem Housing Authority Roof Replacement', prepared by Andrew M. Brockway & Associates, 209 Parker Street, Acton, MA 01720, dated 9/8/22. A set of photographs showing existing conditions, submitted on August 25, 2022. Conditions of Approval: - Consistency with Approved Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the project may not be completed as presented and conditioned herein, he/she/they shall return to the DRB to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes in the field. - Create a reveal by setting the new fascia back from the existing plane. Rather than white, the new fascia should be gray or silver. Findings: - The Board found that the project is consistent with the design standards and guidelines in that the shape of the parapet will not change with the increase in roof height. The change in appearance of the roofline, especially from the street, will be negligible. The incorporation of a reveal in the fascia and the change in color from white to gray or silver will help the new work blend with the building's historic appearance. The approval shall no longer be valid if a substantial use and/or construction has not commenced except for good cause within this two-year period. - Consistency with Approved Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the project may not be completed as presented and conditioned herein, he/she/they shall return to the SRA to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes in the field. - Create a reveal by setting the new fascia back from the existing plane.
