Hello, i am able to put you on for the DRB's 10/21 meeting. I will send the agenda via email approximately one week before the

At your earliest convenience, can you provide answers to the following questions?
1. Are the window decals going into four front windows and two side windows?
2. Please provide the measurements for the windows themselves.
3. Is the bracket shown on the rendering for the hanging sign already on the building or is it a new bracket? If it is new, is the
design of the bracket the same as those for the other businesses in the block?
4. Please provide the frontage measurement for Jolie's frontage along Derby Street. Also provide the frontage for Jolie as it faces
Central Street.

Meeting Date: October 21, 2020
Members Present: Paul Durand, Chair, Helen Sides, Vice-Chair, David Jaquith, Glenn Kennedy,
Catherine Miller, Marc Perras, J. Michael Sullivan
Members Absent: None
Decision: At a regular meeting of the Design Review Board (DRB), upon a motion duly made and seconded,
it was unanimously voted to recommend approval of the sign proposal as designed and conditioned herein.
Referenced Plans and Documents
1. Sign Proposal, prepared by Signverse, 24 Spencer Street, Stoneham, MA 02180, dated 10/8/2020.
2. Staff Comments dated 10/14/20.
Condition of Approval
1. Consistency with Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the approved sign design may
not be completed as detailed in the plans referenced herein and the following conditions,
he/she/they shall return to the DRB to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes
in the field.
2. Hanging Sign:
a. Movement: The hanging sign must be stationary.
b. Surety Bond: The applicant shall adhere to the surety bond requirements as found in the
City of Salem’s Code of Ordinances, Section 4-47: Signs or Structures over Public Ways.
Findings
1. The DRB reviewed the sign proposal and found that the proposed signage is consistent with the
standards and guidelines in the SRA Sign Manual and the City of Salem Sign Ordinance.
2. The proposal is modest with members appreciating its simplicity in design.
3. The use of the existing bracket and sign frame will ensure that the new sign will be cohesive with the
existing signs along this commercial block.
4. The window signs will not prohibit views into and out from the business, which will contribute to the
downtown’s vitality.
