Michael Sullivan Members Absent: None Decision: At a regular meeting of the Design Review Board (DRB), upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously voted to recommend approval of the sign proposal as designed and conditioned herein. Referenced Plans and Documents 1. Sign Proposal, prepared by Mark Blanchard, 270 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970, dated 10/08/2020. 2. Staff Comments dated 10/14/20. Condition of Approval 1. Consistency with Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the approved sign design may not be completed as detailed in the plans referenced herein and the following conditions, he/she/they shall return to the DRB to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes in the field. 2. Hanging Sign: a. Installation: The sign will be installed on the existing bracket. b. Movement: The hanging sign must be stationary. c. Surety Bond: The applicant shall adhere to the surety bond requirements as found in the City of Salem’s Code of Ordinances, Section 4-47: Signs or Structures over Public Ways. Findings 1. The DRB reviewed the sign proposal and found that the proposed signage is consistent with the standards and guidelines in the SRA Sign Manual and the City of Salem Sign Ordinance. 2. The overall design of the sign package is consistent in terms of branding the business. The use of two sign types works together and create a cohesive, appropriate sign design. 3. The locations for the signs are appropriate given the limited amount of frontage the business has on Essex Street.
