Re: Rear Exit: One Derby Square
Dear Mr. Spinale,
During a recent 110 Periodic Inspection for a tenant business in your building at One Derby Square,it was
noted that the rear Exit-Access-Corridor from two retail shops is not regularly illuminated, and that it is
being used for the storage of merchandise and equipment. These conditions are both Code violations.
[B]1006.1 Illumination required.
The means of egress, including the exit discharge, shall be illuminated at all times the
building space served by the means of egress is occupied.
10. 18. 4 Means of Egress
Combustible material shall not be stored in exits.
4.4.3.1.1
In every occupied building or structure, means of egress from all parts of the building
shall be maintained free and unobstructed.
• You are directed,by this letter,to ensure that all materials are removed from the corridor before July 31. 2015,
and that it is maintained free and clear going forward.
•You are also directed to ensure that a permanent light fixture is installed and that the corridor is illuminated
whenever the building is occupied.
Failure to resolve the issues cited above will be construed as non-compliance and may result in the issue of
municipal tickets and fines as well as further enforcement actions.
Please respond with 5 days of receipt of this letter.
Thank-you,
