It is hereby certified that the Salem Historical Commission has determined that the proposed:

as described below does not involve an exterior architectural feature or involves a feature covered by the exemptions or
limitations set forth in the Historic District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance.

Description of Work Proposed:
• In-kind replacement of the following:
o Replace roof shingles on main roof to match existing conical roof which will not be done.
Asphalt 3-tab 25-year charcoal color shingles matching the conical roof,
o Repair sections of rotted facia and soffits with in like materials matching original architectural design.
o Replace rotted clapboards, back prime and paint all new work to match existing keeping color unchanged.
o Repair existing rails and balusters on porches and bow window roof keeping original architectural details.
o Prime and Paint exterior wood shingles and clapboard that are peeling, keeping color the same.
Non-Applicable due to work being in-kind repairs. There will be no changes in color, material, design, location, or outward
appearance.
*NOTE: Historic materials and details must be retained and repaired except where material is not salvageable and must be
replaced. If replacement is necessary, new elements must replicate existing dimensions, details and materials. Should any
changes to materials, design or outward appearance be necessary, Applicant must submit a new application to the Historical
Commission for review.
Upon completion of the above work, please notify Historical Commission staff as final sign-off is required to
document compliance with this Certificate and approved plans.

commenced must be completed within one year from this date unless otherwise indicated.
