The Undersigned hereby petitions the Board of Appeals to vary the terms of the Salem Zoning Ordinance and allow the project to be
constructed as per the plans submitted,as the enforcement of said Zoning By-Laws would involve practical difficulty or unnecessary
hardship to the Undersigned and relief may be granted without substantially derogating from the intent and purpose of the Zoning
Ordinance.
Statement of Hardship(for Variances):
We hereby request a variance from the rear yard setback requirement. The hardship arises from the
irregular shape of the lot, particularly a cutout that significantly affects the rear portion of the home.
This irregularity limits the available space for any rear yard development or expansion, making it
impractical to meet the standard setback requirement without sacrificing essential aspects of the
property's functionality and the reasonable use of theproperty. The proposed addition will be
constructed in a manner consistent with the character of the neighborhood and will not impinge upon
the rights or interests of neighboring properties. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we
appreciate your consideration of this request.
