Dear Mr. Abongelah:
In accordance with Chapter II of the State Sanitary Code, 105 CMR 410.000, Minimum
Standards of Fitness for Human Habitation, a recent re-inspection was conducted of your
property located at 6 Lemon Street Unit 2, conducted by Jeffrey Barosy, Sanitarian of the
Salem Board of Health on July 9, 2024. At that time the following items were still outstanding:
Item # 1: The rear entry door into the dwelling unit still has a deadbolt that requires a key
for both sides and the doorknob lock still does not work. .
Item #2: The switch above the stove that controls the ceiling light and fan in the kitchen
still does not work.
Item # 3: The microwave vent above the stove still vents into the kitchen and not to the
outdoors.
Item #4: The kitchen closet walls still have chipping and peeling paint.
Item # 6: The faucet head for the kitchen sink is still missing.
Item # 7: The bathroom ceiling and part of its walls still show signs of water leakage with
mold growth present.
Item # 8: The bathroom walls and the border of the bathroom window still have chipping
and peeling paint.
Item #9: The wall mounted light switch for one of the bathroom's ceiling lights still does
not work.
Item # 11: The bedroom ceiling and the corner wall in the bedroom still have chipping
and peeling paint.
Item # 12: The wall mounted switch for the bedroom's ceiling light still does not work.
Item # 13: The bedroom ceiling still shows signs of water leakage.
Item # 14: The living room's ceiling light and fan fixture are still hanging from an
electrical wire.
Item # 15: The wall mounted switch for the living room's ceiling light and fan still does
not work.
Item # 16: The thermostat in the living room is still broken.
Item # 17: The stairs for one of the unit's egresses is still blocked by wooden bars that
are stretched across its handrails.
Item # 18: The exterior door for one of the unit's egresses still has a missing doorknob
and misaligned deadbolt lock.
NOTE: The second bedroom in this unit is approximately 67.3ft2 in area.
Please correct the outstanding violations and contact this office to schedule a final re-inspection
of this apartment.
All other violations noted in the inspection report of May 16, 2024, have been corrected.
