forth in the Historic District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance.

Description of Approval of Work:
• Replace existing 3tab roof shingles with IKO Cambridge architectural roof shingles in “Dual Black” or
“Charcoal Gray”. This application was approved as a minor change under the Salem Historical
Commission Practice Regarding Architectural Shingles policy.
• Repoint chimney with the following conditions:
o Mortar to be Type N (1 part cement/1 part lime/6 parts sand);
o Mortar to match existing color, grain size, texture, and tooling/pointing style;
o Cleaning of masonry surfaces to be by gentlest means possible, such as washing with low pressure water
and soft natural bristle brushes. High pressure washing and sandblasting is not allowed;
o Waterproof coatings and sealants shall not be used.
Upon completion of above approved work, please notify Historical Commission staff as final sign-off is
required to document compliance with this Certificate.
