RE: 155 North Street—Permit#B-24-342
Dear Mr. Roberto,
As of June Yh, 2024 it has come to my attention that the demolition work being
Performed at 155 North Street has been done in a manner that did not receive
Prior Demolition Delay approval from the Historic Commission. The City of
Salem has a Demolition Delay Ordinance that requires Commission review
when 50%or more of a building's walls,floors and/or roof assemblies are
proposed to be demolished Thus permit B-24-342 is in violation of Chapter 12,
Division 4 of the City's Municipal Ordinance and work must Cease and Desist
immediately.
No further work may be done until such time as the order is lifted. Any person
who shall continue any work in or about the building or structure after having
been served with a Stop Work Order, except such work as that person is directed
to perform. To remove a violation or unsafe condition, shall be liable to a fine of
not more than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both for
each violation; with each day constituting a separate violation.
