Chelsea Duragard Window Specifications (1) CHELSEA DURAGARD SPECIFICATION Architect’s Specifications General: Manufactured by Glass America Window Mfg, Inc., Smithfield, RI. Model: Chelsea Duragard Replacement / New Construction DP40 Operations: Sash shall be counterbalanced to remain as placed during window operation. Both sashes shall tilt inwards for cleaning exterior glass surface. The top sash styles shall be fitted with two security latches which, when extended, shall prevent the bottom sash from being opened more than three inches. Sash locks shall function to secure the opening and through a cam-action mechanism, draw the meeting rails together for a tight seal. Window screens shall be of a side load design. Materials: All vinyl extrusions shall be rigid, 100% virgin PVC. The frame shall have a nominal wall thickness of .065” and shall include tubular hollows for maximum strength and thermal efficiency. Sash profiles shall have a nominal wall thickness of .065” and shall contain two courses of co-extruded, flexible vinyl glazing seals at each of the glazing channel. Sash lift rails shall be integral to the sash extrusion. Sash meeting rails shall include an integral leg, which shall provide a positive meeting rail interlock in the assembled unit. Frame Construction: Frame profile shall be designed for an Integral Nail Fin and “J” channel or be fitted with head expanders, as job conditions require. Overall frame depth shall be 3 1/4”. Frame is miter cut and fusion welded. On replacement, one jamb alignment screw shall be at the center of each jamb. Exterior of frame shall accommodate foam wrap insulation around head and jambs. Jamb on new construction frame can include extenders. Sash Construction: Sash frame shall be miter cut and fusion welded. The corner at each welded sash top rail shall have spring-loaded sash release latches. Each welded sash bottom rail corner to have a zinc drop in pivot bar. Available Finishes: Shall be solid vinyl throughout in Euro white or Terra Tone Exterior/White Interior. Screen Construction: Frame shall be of the extruded design. Standard screen shall be a half screen with 18 x 16 mesh non-glare charcoal finished fiberglass wire. The bottom rail shall have locking latches, upon request. Glazing: Insulating glass shall have an overall thickness of 7/8” with a minimum 11/16” air space. Insulated glass sandwich shall utilize Super Spacer by Edgetech/Tremco and shall have hot melt sealant around the entire perimeter to achieve a dual seal. Standard glass shall be single strength domestic type B float glass. Weather-stripping: A minimum of two courses of solid barrier fin-type weather-stripping shall be applied at the crack perimeter (excluding sill) of the window. The bottom sash rail shall include one course on non-rigid bulb-type, which shall compress onto the sill when the sash is in the closed position. Backwall of sill frame shall have one course of fin-type weatherseal. Hardware: Sash balances shall be constant force design. Balance shall be anchored to nylon terminal housings which lock in place once the sash is tilted in. Sash locks shall be cam type and finished to match the vinyl extrusion color. Locks shall be securely anchored with color match, self-tapping screws driven through the sash rail and into a reinforcing bar. Double locks are on widths over 32”. Sash tilt latches shall be surface mounted with recess option when surface mount is removed. Options: Grids – Colonial aluminum in-glass and in-glass diamond grids are available. Glazing – Double or Triple Pane, Obscure, Low-E, Argon filled Low-E, Tinted, Laminated Safety and special Tempered can be used. Factory mulled units, oriel windows, and full screens are available.
