Dear Sir/Madam:
In accordance with Chapter II of the State Sanitary Code, 105 CMR 410.000, Minimum
Standards of Fitness for Human Habitation, a recent re-inspection was conducted of your
property located at 8A Herbert Street Unit 2, conducted by Jeffrey Barosy, Sanitarian of the
Salem Board of Health on November 22, 2023. At that time the following items were still
outstanding:
Item # 1: The heat has been restored, but the minimum temperature for the hours
between 7:00am and 11:00am is 68°F.At the time of re-inspection, the temperature in the
unit was 650F and the thermostat was set for 64-66°F.
New Violations
105 CMR 410.235: The radiators in the bedroom and the kitchen have valve handles that
are loose preventing anyone from turning the radiators on and off. The radiator in the
kitchen is stuck off and the radiator in the bedroom is stuck on. Repair both radiators so
their valve handles are properly affixed to the radiators and the radiators can be turned
on and off with ease. The owner has 24 hours to start making a good-faith effort to
correct this violation.
105 CMR 410.500: The stair tread at the top of stairway leading into the basement is
warped and loose. Repair this stair tread. The owner has 24 hours to start making a
good-faith effort to correct this violation.
105 CMR 410.520: The stairway leading into the basement lacks a handrail. Provide a
handrail for this stairway. The owner has 24 hours to start making a good-faith effort to
correct this violation.
Please correct the outstanding violations and contact this office to schedule a final re-inspection
of this apartment.
All other violations noted in the inspection report of November 8, 2023 have been
corrected.
