Our office was informed of a safety situation which was presented on the evening
of January 8, 2019. The common means of egress lights were on a timer and there was no
illumination during an emergency. This is a violation of the Mass State Building Code
780 C.M.R. section 1008.2. Common hallways and Means of Egress are to be illuminated
24 hours. You are directed to rectify the illumination situation immediately. Failure to comply
will result in municipal code tickets and further enforcement actions. This office has arranged a
required inspection on Tuesday January 22"d at 9:30, at this time Health and Fire Inspectors will
be present.
If you feel you are aggrieved by the building code section, your appeal is to the Board of
Buildings, Regulations and Standards in Boston.
