Dear Madam,
On October 16, 2023 an inspector from the Salem Board of Health conducted
Certificate of Fitness re-inspections for several dwelling units at 366 Essex Street.
During the inspections the inspector observed there were several missing and broken
balusters in the front interior common stairway. This is a violation of 105 CMR 410.520:
Protective Railings and Walls, and is a condition deemed to endanger or materially
impair health or safety under 105 CMR 410.630 (16). The owner has 24 hours from
receipt of this letter to start making a good-faith effort to have these balusters restored.
Once this violation has been corrected, the owner will contact the Salem Board of
Health to schedule a re-inspection.
