Re: 2023 National Fund for Sacred Spaces
To whom it may concern:
On behalf of The Salem Board of Health, I write to express our strong support for St. Peter's Episcopal
Church application for the 2023 National Fund for Sacred Spaces Grant.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic the Salem Board of Health needed.a space to operate a COVID
testing clinic. The ideal location would be near downtown and have enough space to test upwards of
500 people a day. The Board of Health approached Father Nathan to see if the church would be able to
partner with the City in this effort.
Father Nathan did not hesitate, offering space five days a week to the City to operate this clinic. The
clinic successfully operated for six months testing thousands of individuals during this very harrowing
time.
St. Peter's Church leadership has expressed their desire to offer their church space for other purposes
like this to continue to make a positive difference in the community.
