28-30 Fairmount St_STOP WORK ORDER CITY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS 0 BUILDING DEPARTMENT 98 WASHINGTON STREET,2ND FLOOR TEL. (978) 745-9595 KIMBERLEY DRISCOLL MAYOR THOMAS STYIERRE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROPERTY/BUILDING COMMISSIONER February 3, 2023 28-30 Fairmount Street Fairmount Development 581 Boylston Street Boston Ma. 02116 Re 28 -30 Fairmount Street Dear Owners, This office has received and confirmed that significant work has been done at this address without Building permits The only permit showing is for"interior demolition only"(B-22-985). A current check of the property shows two shed dormers on the third floor and a substantial stair tower constructed at the rear of the building. This work has no building permits and most certainly required Board of Appeal approvals prior to a Building permit being issued. I am now issuing a Stop Work Order on the Building. Work is to cease until such time as zoning issues and proper Building permits are in place. There is also the issue of the status of the home. My opinion now, and twenty years ago in the file is that the home is a two Family property, not a three. . The Building Code reference is 780 CMR section R114. You have the right to Appeal my Zoning interpretations to the Salem Zoning Board of Appeals. You have the right to Appeal the Stop Work Order to the Board of Buildings, Regulations and Standards in Boston. Failure to comply with this order will result in daily fines and further enforcement actions Sin//fie//r1ly, Thomas St.Pierre
