Dear Ms. Brennan: ji
I am writing to express our support for North Shore' Community Health's (NSCH) application for
federal funding under the Bureau of Primary Health Care Health Center Program's Service Area
Competition. NSCH has provided consistent, vital, high quality primary care services to
thousands of North Shore residents for over 40 years. 'More recently and in response to
community needs, NSCH greatly expanded its capacity to provide integrated behavioral health
care for its patients and is providing that service in many of the Salem public schools.
NSCH and the Salem Board of Health have a history of collaboration that until recently mostly
involved information sharing, flu clinics, and health fairs. One of the concrete ways in which we
are collaborating more recently is participating in1he Opioid Overdose Prevention Coalition with
the City of Salem Board of Health to better meet the net of highly vulnerable Salem residents.
The Salem Board of Health is a municipal local h'j, Ith department that provides mandated public
health services to its residents and is actively invoilved in health promotion and harm reduction
activities within the community. We value our partnership with NSCH and its continued efforts
to improve the health and well-being of Salem residents and visitors.
We look forward to continuing to work together to improve the health of our community. We
fully support NSCH's application for continuation'of funding from HRSA to support its ability to
provide comprehensive, high quality primary care to residents of the North Shore regardless of
ability to pay.
I
Sincerely,
