Dear Sir/Madam,
David Greenbaum, Health Agent, and Jeffrey Barosy, Sanitarian, of the Salem Board of
Health had a meeting with Tony DeBarros, Director of Training and Development for
Prestige Carwash, at 51 Canal Street. During the meeting Tony informed the Salem
Board of Health that Prestige Carwash is in the planning stage of renovating the
automated carwash to help mitigate the volume of its blowers.
The Salem Board of Health advised Mr. DeBarros to have an industrial hygienist and a
noise meter specialist help the establishment with its plans before it breaks ground for
renovation. The Salem Board of Health also advised Mr. DeBarros not to aim for a
specific decibel level, but to ensure the automated carwash blowers do not raise the
ambient sound levels 5 to 6 decibels above the ambient background sound level.
At the end of the meeting the Salem Board of Health requested Mr. DeBarros to have
Prestige Carwash's plan for the automated carwash blowers put in writing and delivered
to the Salem Board of Health's office for the department's records. Also, the Salem
Board of Health requested Prestige Carwash contact its office when the renovations are
completed.
