284 Lafayette Street - narrativeThe Salem Historical Commission,
As the Operations Manager of The Coach House, I am requesting that the front exterior sign be replaced
with the support of the Historical Commission here in Salem. The metal finishings of the sign have begun
to corrode, and the wood has unfortunately begun to rot. Due to the quality of the wood, letters have
difficulty remaining on the sign itself (please see photos attached to this proposal). The post is very easily
moveable, with little to no stabilization, which can be a hazard to those who are staying with us, as well as
members of the community who pass by. I have consulted with numerous sign companies within the area,
and Concepts Signs has done a wonderful job on many of the historical landmarks, and their signs here in
Salem. The Coach House front sign will remain in the same spot as it always has, with the following
proposed changes:
-The removal of the sign and current post
-The replacement sign be 2’’ thick, double sided 44 x 48 carved with 23 kt genuine gold leaf,
raised panel with the coachman logo (see attached design in proposal)
-The new sign to then be placed on a custom steel scroll bracket, single post with Azek sleeve and
cap (see attached example in proposal)
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best,
Marley Chase
