Dear Sir,
On the above date I conducted an inspection relative to the acceptance of the fire
alarm system at 17-19 (!march Street. I inforimd the electrician to activate the
smoke detector, he old`i9 that he had nothing with the installation of any smke
detectors. It seems that your company did in fact install the smoke detectors.
These devices are on an independent system and DO NOT sound an alarm in the remainder
of the building. This type of system will not be allvomed. Any and all devices which
are dedicated for the detection of .fire will be tied into the main system of the entire
building.
I made a site inspection last week and spoke with your workman relative to the in-
stallation of fire alarm devices, I questioned him at that time if he was installing
any fire detection devices, he told ne emphatically that he installed burglar alarm
devices ONLY, "I'm not touching the fire alarm at all" was his answer.
This independent system, while not accepted, was installed without any commmication
or the issuance of any permit which is reqVired.,jn Article 5, Section F-500.2, and
The Massachusetts Board of Fire Prevention Regulation, 527CMR24.00.
Your company is in direct violation of the Salem Fire Code, Art. 5, sect. F-500.2,
and 527CMR24.00, Massachsuetts Board of Fire Prevention Regulations.
A hearing has been scheduled for June 12, 1991, at 2:30 P.M. in my office.
