Dear Mayor Harrington:
In response to the Council Order dated July 19, 1993 regarding the
securing of the above referenced property, an inspection was conducted by
the Building Inspector and the building was found to be structurally sound.
We notified the owner of the property and as of July 26, 1993 the building,
by means of boarding up the windows and doors, has been made secure from
all possible entry by humans or small animals.

On May 24, 1993 I sent a letter to you requesting the above referenced
property be secured. I conducted and inspection of this property on
Friday, July 15, 1993 and it appears you have chosen to ignore my request.
I feel this office has been more than patient with you and when you asked
for and extension, one was granted. It now seems you have taken advantage
of our willingness to cooperate with you.
You are hereby ordered to secure the building at 39 Cedar Crest
Avenue, Salem, within five (5) days of receipt of this notice. Failure to
comply will result in the appropriate legal action being taken.

Dear Mr. Mormino:
This office has been contact by the Salem Fire Chief concerning an
abandoned building located at the above referenced site. The Chief's
concern is the building's vulnerability in it's present state of being
torched.
This building must be secured by means of the boarding up of all
openings so as to discourage entry. Failing to comply with this notice
within ten (10) days of receipt could result in legal action being taken.
Please contact this office, in writing, of your intentions regarding this
most dangerous situation.
